Natural Teeth Whitening »

People with shiny white teeth are very attractive. Seeing their smiles with those pearly whites is enough reason to admire them. In some cases, it becomes a venue for us to envy them. This maybe good especially if it motivates us to improve ourselves. There seems to be nothing wrong with taking care of your personal hygiene. If this can fill the void that will help you gain confidence, then by all means, do everything that can help whiten your teeth.

They say that anything natural is good. No harmful chemicals that can certainly destroy or damage your teeth. In this age of major medical advancements, are there still home remedies or natural ways to whiten teeth? The very popular laser treatment is very effective but it is not made affordable to ordinary people. There must be some natural teeth whitening procedures that can provide hope to many individuals who have developed an ugly duckling syndrome just because they have yellowish or discoloration in their teeth.

One of the old practices that naturally whitens teeth is by mixing a dash of salt, a few drops of white vinegar and a teaspoon of baking soda. You can use this as a toothpaste. Once your done, you need to use your regular toothpaste to rinse and remove the smell of vinegar.

One can use mashed strawberries or orange peel. All you have to do is rub the strawberries or orange peel on your teeth. These fruits have natural whitening agents and their acids help in cleaning the teeth’s plaque and stains.

Another natural teeth whitening practice is the use of wood ash. This is the same thing that you see in your fireplace. Make sure it is pure wood ash though, not coal ash! This maybe unconventional but the ash contains potassium hydroxide or lye which whitens teeth naturally. Just be careful not to use soft wood ash because this does not contain lye.

You can also do this procedure. Make sure you brush your teeth really good. After that, you need to get a white wash cloth and pour some extra virgin olive oil on it. The next step is to scrub the cloth on your teeth. This may sound weird but it works perfectly in helping to whiten teeth.

Few Things You Didnt Know About Teeth whitening »

Nobody wants to have dull, yellowish teeth, but neither do we want to have to avoid all those wonderful things in life like chocolate, red wine, soda, tea, or coffee. Even if you do avoid substances that can color your teeth, they naturally lose their white luster over time. People used to pay to have expensive veneers cover their teeth to keep them looking white, but then teeth whitening was introduced.Teeth whitening, otherwise known as teeth bleaching is safer, less invasive, and much less expensive than getting veneers. Many people feel self-conscious about their smile, especially if they are in front of the public eye a lot. Although teeth whitening is not permanent (unless you eliminate teeth-staining substances from your life) it is a better alternative to keeping a pearly white smile.Teeth whitening can be done several ways. Sometimes a gel-like substance is put in trays and affixed over the teeth for a period of time (usually overnight). But there are also whitening methods that can be done immediately at the dentist’s office. Imagine getting whiter teeth in an hour, while relaxing in front of the TV!Some people have the mistaken idea that teeth whitening is dangerous. In actuality, it is very safe. It can sometimes result in temporary feelings of sensitivity in the gums and teeth, but that usually goes away quite quickly. You can ease the discomfort by using a specialized toothpaste for sensitive teeth during that time. If you have very sensitive teeth be sure to check with your dentist first to make sure tooth whitening is a good choice for you. It may cause exceptional discomfort on overly sensitive teeth.Beware of many homemade teeth whitening methods such as those that incorporate acidic products like lemon. These can break down the calcium in your teeth and make them begin to rot. Some people also believe that brushing your teeth a lot with a really stiff toothbrush will keep them white. Actually, all this does is wear away at the enamel that the teeth need as protection. To keep your teeth whiter longer don’t smoke, drink dark beverages through a straw (so that there is minimal contact with your teeth), and brush your teeth immediately after eating or drinking. Whitening toothpastes rarely work. They may remove some minor surface staining, but the higher cost of these toothpastes do not make these a worthwhile investment. Many people find that they immediately experience a boost in their confidence after getting their teeth whitened. They no longer need to feel ashamed or embarrassed to talk to someone closely face-to-face and worry that the other individual is eyeing their teeth with disgust. A brilliant smile makes you look years younger than your actual age and who doesn’t want that?

Home Remedies for Teeth Whitening »

A great white smile is what everyone wants. Yes we see celebs have it but it’s a little more then that. For better or worse how our teeth look helps to define us. When you meet someone for the first time, having great looking white teeth does make a big difference. A great part to having pearly whites is the fact that there is no recovery time besides rinsing out your mouth. Getting a good tooth whitening kit can help make all the difference.Of the many home remedies and at-home tooth whitening applications available, kits are among the popular because of their multi-step approach and great results. Generally, a tooth whitening kit contains a tray system with rinse and other follow up products designed to get the most teeth whitening power from the products included in the system.Considered a proven all-time favorite, baking soda has many purposes, which include tooth whitening. Most dentists agree that it’s safe to use and works fairly quickly. You can use it alone on a damp toothbrush, or mix it with toothpaste to help reduce the salty taste.Another basic at home method is by creating a paste made out of lemon juice and salt. Just mix one part lemon juice with two parts salt and rub the paste over your teeth. The salt granules gently lift away the dull color of your teeth and any stubborn yellow stains. As many home teeth whitening remedies there are that work, there are just as many that do not. It’s important to mention the natural remedies you should avoid to keep from harming your teeth and gums in search of a brighter smile. Of some of the most popular natural whitening methods are the use of acids, like lemon juice/zest and strawberries. While, these may taste better than salt, baking soda and peroxide, they are harmful to your tooth enamel and gums. The citric acid will eat away your enamel, leaving your teeth unprotected and exposed. The leaves of the holy basil are dried in the sun and powdered and used for brushing teeth. The leaves help in maintaining dental hygiene and make the teeth whiter. Apart from the whitening properties, holy basil is also used for protection from problems such as pyorrhea (i.e. bleeding of gums). The neem tree, or the margosa, is a traditional remedy for having white healthy teeth. Neem twigs are used by several Indians even today as toothbrushes. Neem oils contain astringent and antiseptic properties to fight bad breath, kill microorganisms accumulated on the teeth and to combat dental caries and cavities.Another popular homemade teeth whitening remedy is wood ash. As wood ash contains potassium hydro oxide which is a very good teeth bleaching agent. The tiny crystals of wood ash reach the inner places between and behind the teeth and clean it thoroughly. Wood ash should be applied very carefully as it can damage or wear down the enamel. The abrasive based compound is made of all-natural ingredients and is safe to use daily and in fact is relatively common as one of the first forms of toothpaste used. Mix together baking soda with a bit of course salt and add in enough hydrogen peroxide to make a thick paste. Use the paste to brush your teeth well as you normally would. This offers not only teeth whiten properties, but also acts as a natural breath freshener, stain remover and germ killer. Rinse if the taste bothers you and go about your day.

Teeth Whitening is a $2 Billion Industry, and it is More Affordable Than you Might Think »

Visiting a professional will be more expensive, and reality is most of the alternatives available to Dentists, such as Toothpastes and Bleaching-kits, are accessible to the people in general via the internet, mail-order and even over the counter from drugstores and supermarkets. The obvious exception would be in the case where you opted for structural alterations to your teeth, like Porcelain Veneers or Bonding – which literally alter the shape and size of your teeth. These approaches can set you back anything from $300 – $1200 for each tooth, making them an option that is not readily available to everyone.

For a lot less money, and without making any nonreversible structural modifications to your teeth, we have remaining the solutions of Toothpastes, Whitening Strips and Bleaching systems. The one procedure that rises to the top as being the most effective in terms of cost is Bleaching. Bleaching sounds dangerous, I mean putting bleach in your mouth does not seem to be the smartest of all ideas, but the reality is that this procedure has been used for a number of years and the past tells us that it is very safe. The ADHA actually suggests that “Bleaching is effective in lightening most stains caused by age, tobacco, coffee, and tea. Based on clinical studies, 96 percent of patients with these kinds of stains experience some lightening effect”.

Before we take an upclose look at Bleaching methods, we’ll breeze over the less-effective approaches of teeth whitening (Whitening Toothpastes and Whitening Strips).

Whitening Toothpastes:

Some people demonstrate a slight improvement in brightness when they use Whitening Toothpastes, but because a Toothpaste isn’t exposed to your teeth for very long it isn’t able to penetrate deep enough to have much effect. Because whitening Toothpastes are exposed to the entire mouth, they simply cannot include much of the targeted chemical ingredients required to oxidize and cleanse the enamel.

Whitening Strips:

Whitening strips are pressed against the top and lower teeth and normally need to be worn for 30 minutes a day (twice daily) for 7-14 days. Whitening Strips are thin, flexible pieces of plastic that have been coated on one side with a thin film of hydrogen-Peroxide bleach (normally 6-10% strength).

Toothpastes and Whitening Strips do exhibit some results, but in reality they offer nothing in the ballpark of the effectiveness of using a Peroxide-based Bleaching system. There are so many different Bleaching approaches accessible today that you could literally write a book on the topic. As an overview, the techniques can be broken into 2 main groups: (i) D.I.Y. kits (ii) Professionally Administered Bleaching.

DIY Bleaching Kits:

A strong bleaching gel can cause teeth sensitivity, and so can a weak gel if it is left in your mouth for too long, so a moderate strength bleaching gel is ideal. To prevent the bleaching gel from leaking onto your gums and into your mouth, a bleaching kit that offers a custom molded tray is by far a better choice.

Professionally Administered Bleaching:

Using a professional gives more people the peace-of-mind knowing that they are being tendered to by someone who has years of experience, but in reality the one active ingredient (the Peroxide gel) is more than likely the same as you get with DIY kits. Some professionally administered techniques use a new technology where a special blue light is used to enhance the effectiveness of the gel.

In days of old, Teeth Whitening was a term that was strictly associated to treatment you could receive only from your Dentist. But that has differed, because now you have many solutions. Teeth Whitening is a mammoth market and new alternatives are emerging constantly.

Whitening Strips often give blotchy end results because they concentrate solely on the face of the teeth and fail to delve into the gaps and cracks between teeth. Whitening Toothpastes do work, but the active element is weak, and isn’t applied to your teeth long enough to deliver hasty results. These practices have shown slight but at times inconsistent results, and if you’re Okay with that, you will splurge less money.

Porcelain Veneers and Bonding are exceptional alternatives, but when you contemplate the cost of between $300 and $1200 for each tooth, most of us simply can’t afford this procedure. Add to that the realization that your teeth are going to be grinded down, and reshaped nonreversibly – this is clearly not a choice for the white-livered.

That leaves Bleaching. This procedure is both cost-sensitive and extremely effective. You get consistently white teeth, it does not take long to administer and you do not need to undergo any structural modifications to your teeth. But the most attractive part of this method is that you can select the approach to occur in the solace of your own place, or you can have it administered by a professional.

As a final outcome, you want a technique that delivers whiter and brighter teeth, you want consistence and you do not want to re-mortgage the house to fund your new white teeth.

You may want to start by speaking with your dentist. He or she can tell you whether whitening procedures would be effective for you. Whiteners may not correct all types of discoloration. For example, yellow-ish hued teeth will probably bleach well, brownish-colored teeth may bleach less well, and grayish-hued teeth may not bleach well at all. Likewise, bleaching may not enhance your smile if you have had bonding or tooth-colored fillings placed in your front teeth. The whitener will not effect the color of these materials, and they will stand out in your newly whitened smile. In these cases, you may want to investigate other options, like porcelain veneers or dental bonding.
What is in-office bleaching?
If you are a candidate for bleaching, your dentist may suggest a procedure that can be done in his or her office. This procedure is called chairside bleaching and may require more than one office visit. Each visit may take from 30 minutes to one hour.
During chairside bleaching, the dentist will apply either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield to protect the oral soft tissues. A bleaching agent is then applied to the teeth, and a special light may be used to enhance the action of the agent.
A number of in-office bleaching agents have the ADA Seal of Acceptance, your assurance that they have met ADA standards of safety and effectiveness.
Lasers have been used during tooth whitening procedures to enhance the action of the whitening agent. No whitening products using lasers currently are on the ADA list of Accepted products.
The total treatment can usually be done within three to four weeks. First, you will need two or three visits to the dentist. Your dentist will need to make a mouthguard and will take impressions for this at the first appointment. Once your dentist has started the treatment, you will need to continue the treatment at home. This means regularly applying the whitening product over two to four weeks, for 30 minutes to one hour at a time.
However, there are now some new products which can be applied for up to eight hours at a time. This means a satisfactory result can be achieved in as little as one week.
What are at-home procedures and products?
There are several types of products available for use at home, which can either be dispensed by your dentist or purchased over-the-counter one of the best is MAXODENT WHITENING SYSTEM.

Your teeth can also be stained on the surface through food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and blackcurrant. Smoking can also stain teeth.
Calculus or tartar can also affect the colour of teeth. Some people may have staining under the surface, which can be caused by certain antibiotics or tiny cracks in the teeth which take up stains.
